Days
Shift: 4 x 10 hour shifts, 7am- 5:30pm. Preferred days Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri. (can discuss further)
Job Summary: The Mammographer I operates mammography equipment to produce radiographic images of the breast for screening exams under the general supervision of a radiologist. Minimum Education: Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program and 40 hours documented training specific to mammography and 8 hours modality specific digital training in accordance with Mammograph Quality Standards Act. Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and Certification in Mammography required. Work Experience: 6 months related experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Competent to perform screening mammograms on men and women of mammography age 18 - 100 years. Demonstrated skills and knowledge of mammography unit and basic positioning skills Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal that present clear and concise information. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with competing deadlines. Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Performs timely screening mammography, with less than 5% repeat rate. Enters accurate patient history and charges off exam. Explains exam in a manner patient can understand, gains patient cooperation and reduces patient anxiety. Complies with all departmental and hospital policies. Performs other duties as required by lead technologist or manager. Recognizes image quality issues and repeats images when necessary to obtain diagnostically adequate studies. Maintains accurate and complete documentation in the electronic medical record and imaging systems. Performs quality control procedures and ensures mammography equipment is functioning properly and within required standards. Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established. Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above. Special Job Dimensions None.
