Maintenance Technician

Job description

Responsibilities
• Constructs, repairs, replaces and maintains structural woodwork and masonry to interior and exterior of building, using both hand and power tools.
• Repairs furniture, equipment, and machinery.
• Installs and repairs minor electrical equipment and lighting fixtures.
• Performs minor plumbing jobs.
• Repairs roofs, roads, sidewalks and interior and exterior stairs and steps.
• Makes minor repairs to heating, air conditioning, ventilating equipment and small scale painting.
• Makes cost-reduction recommendations to management that adhere to policies and procedures, for electrical, fire safety, HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Assists in removal of snow. Serves as a member of the Fire Response Team and responds to emergencies.
• Responds to facilities emergencies, as needed.
• Performs related duties, as required.

ADA Essential Functions
Requirements
• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience.
• Certified by FDNYC to conduct sprinkler, smoke detectors, fire doors, standpipe, fire hoses, fire pump and extinguishers tests, required.
• Ability to use tools related to the carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and mechanical trades.
• FDNYC certified for G17 Medical Gas and G60, preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions.
