Position Summary
The LPN/RN provides healthcare services to individuals within the county jail system while following established clinical, organizational, and correctional healthcare policies and procedures.
The nurse is responsible for completing health appraisals, identifying healthcare needs, providing appropriate nursing care, documenting findings, and communicating patient needs to the healthcare team.
This position requires sound clinical judgment, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a unique and sometimes unpredictable environment.
What You'll Do
Provide Comprehensive Healthcare
• Complete a health appraisal for each inmate within seven days of admission
• Perform medical screenings and obtain relevant medical, dental, mental health, and immunization histories
• Obtain and document vital signs and other appropriate health information
• Perform additional testing and provide therapies as appropriate within scope of practice
• Identify health concerns and communicate findings to the appropriate healthcare provider
• Assist providers with the immediate care of patients
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

Support Daily Clinic Operations
• Follow established policies and procedures for the overall operation of the clinic back office
• Assist providers with patient care and clinical needs
• Complete appropriate clerical and administrative duties as time allows
• Maintain a professional and organized clinical environment
• Work collaboratively with healthcare staff and correctional personnel

Provide Professional, Respectful Care
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
• Communicate effectively with patients and members of the healthcare team
• Treat every individual with professionalism, dignity, and respect
• Remain calm and professional when managing challenging or stressful situations
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries within the correctional healthcare environment

Qualifications
Education
• High School Diploma required
• Post-secondary nursing education/certification required for applicable nursing license

Licensure & Certifications
• Current Idaho LPN or RN License required
• Current BLS certification required
• PREA training completion required

Experience
• Previous correctional or jail healthcare experience preferred
• Healthcare experience in a fast-paced or unpredictable environment preferred
