Responsibilities & Requirements
The Lead Interventional Radiology technologist supports patient care by performing and assisting with a range of interventional radiology procedures, ensuring high-quality imaging and patient safety. This role guides daily workflow, provides informal leadership to technologists, and helps maintain regulatory compliance and operational efficiency. Performs other duties as assigned. All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health's mission, vision, values, and B Safe program.
Required Education
• Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field from an accredited program.

Required Work Experience
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a radiologic technologist or in a related imaging role.

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations
• Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Valid Ohio Radiologic License issued by the Ohio Department of Health.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Skills
• Proficiency in diagnostic imaging procedures, protocols, and safety standards
• Knowledge of radiation safety principles and ALARA practices
• Ability to guide, coordinate, and mentor imaging staff
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) and radiology information systems
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory requirements
• Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and infection control standards.

Essential Functions
• Perform and assist with a variety of interventional radiology procedures in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
• Lead daily workflow by prioritizing cases, coordinating patient flow, and supporting technologist assignments.
• Provide informal guidance, training, and orientation to technologists and students within the department.
• Monitor and maintain quality control measures to ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards.
• Serve as a liaison between technologists, physicians, nursing, and management to facilitate communication and resolve operational issues.
• Oversee inventory management, including ordering, stocking, and tracking supplies and equipment for interventional procedures.
• Document procedures, patient information, and equipment use accurately in the electronic health record.
• Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and support implementation of best practices.
• Ensure adherence to infection control, radiation safety, and patient confidentiality policies at all times.
• Respond to emergent situations and troubleshoot equipment or procedural issues as needed.
• Support staff scheduling and workflow adjustments in collaboration with department leadership.
• Maintain required licensure, certifications, and continuing education as mandated by regulatory bodies.

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology, Health Sciences, or a related field.
• Experience in interventional radiology procedures and a lead or senior technologist role.
• ARRT certification in Vascular Interventional Radiography or Cardiac Interventional Radiography.
