About the Job
General Summary of Position
The Lead Clinical Coordinator supports clinical pharmacy support functions such as refill and delivery coordination, benefits investigation, prior authorizations, and financial assistance ensuring the highest standards of patient care compliance and operational efficiency.
This role trains and guides a team of pharmacy technicians collaborating closely with pharmacists, clinic liaisons, providers, patients and pharmacies to coordinate medication services and optimize patient outcomes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Orients, trains, mentors and supports new clinical coordinators; acclimates new hires with pharmacy / clinic workflow policies and procedures and computer system. Develops and updates training plans and adapts teaching and training methods to fit the needs of the individual learner.
• Provides ongoing training and support to existing Clinical Coordinators to enhance technical competence, productivity and customer service skills; and for new pharmacy programs, policies and procedures and workflow processes as they are implemented or revised.
• Fosters effective communication with pharmacy team clinic liaisons, providers and internal stakeholders.
• Serves as the primary point of contact for resolving operational barriers and workflow challenges.
• Assigns and monitors daily tasks including benefits investigation, prior authorizations, copay/foundation assistance, onboarding, delivery coordination, drug replacement services, and prescription refill outreach.
• Contributes to the workload as needed to meet deadlines fill coverage gaps etc.
• Recommends standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and compliance to workflow processes.
• Assists in developing and executing clinic strategy and operations to strengthen patient care and provider collaboration. Builds and maintains professional relationships with clinic teams and patients to ensure a seamless high-quality patient experience.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimal Qualifications
Education
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
• Associate's degree preferred
Experience
• 3-4 years Pharmacy technician experience in a retail long term care mail order or specialty pharmacy setting; 3 years related customer experience required
• 1-2 years Clinical Coordinator (or similar) role required
• Previous training or supervisory experience preferred
Licenses and Certifications
• CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technician) pharmacy technician certification through the nationally accredited certification examination (PTCB) or (ExCPT) required upon hire
• Maryland Pharmacy technician licensure or registration required upon hire
This position has a hiring range of
USD $22.48 - USD $39.75 /Hr.
