SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Operating Room Clinical Manager, performs a variety of technical and patient card functions that provide assistance to the Anesthesia Department and surgical team throughout the perioperative period.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIIES:

Assists in and maintains the organization of inventory in the anesthesia supply room based on established PAR levels maintaining principles of asepsis.
Maintains adequate inventory and works proactively to prevent supply shortages that could impact patient care or daily operations.
Inspects and cleans anesthesia machines, carts, and equipment and supplies with the exception of rubber goods.
Assembles invasive lines (peripheral, arterial, and pulmonary artery) according to policy and procedures, maintaining aseptic technique.
Restocks anesthesia machines and carts based on an established schedule and PAR levels.
Ordering and maintaining stock of anesthesia carts and supplies used in the Operating Room (OR), Endoscopy, and Cath Lab
Assists anesthesia personnel and perioperative nurses to prepare and position patients for regional anesthesia.
Collaborates with the anesthesia team to assign anesthesia technicians to specific Operating Rooms and determine daily responsibilities.
Inspects and disinfects all equipment utilized by the Anesthesia Department throughout the perioperative period, i.e., Blood Warmers, IVAC Machines.
Maintains and files records of all anesthesia equipment repairs and inspections, P.M. contracts and equipment inventory. Notifies biomedical engineering department and/or manufacturer when repairs are required.
Assists anesthesia personnel setting up and troubleshooting monitoring equipment.
Prepares and sets up Operating Rooms for anesthesia, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and ready for procedures.
Assists anesthesia personnel in setting up and operating equipment utilized in determining blood clotting and hemoglobin (ACT).
Assists in various procedures related to auto transfusion including set up and operation of blood salvaging devices.
Orders anesthesia equipment and supplies, as directed.
Performs other related duties as required.
Monitors supply levels and communicates back orders and supply shortages to anesthesia providers in a timely manner.
Helps coordinate the daily workflow of anesthesia technicians to ensure efficient coverage and support for the ORs and procedural areas.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Equivalent to an Associates Degree in Applied Science.
Basic Life Support certification required or within six months of accepting position.
Knowledge of medical terminology and principles of asepsis required.
Knowledge of cardiovascular equipment, cardiovascular technology and anatomy required.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide care to patients throughout life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
EXPERIENCE:
Six months operating room experience. Additional direct patient care experience is preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbent is exposed to patient-care environment and works with electrical equipment. Any risk of exposure to contagious or noxious elements is minimized by adherence to safety procedures and protocols.
INDEPENDENT ACTION:
Duties are proceduralized, allowing incumbent to perform independently with intermittent close supervision on conformance with written instructions, established schedules and predetermined priorities. Problems not clearly defined by written directives of instruction are reviewed with supervisors of the Anesthesia Department and the Nursing Department to determine course of action.

$22.04-$36.37
