🧪 About the Role
As a Laboratory Assistant III , you will serve as a vital resource within the laboratory, providing advanced specimen processing support, coordinating workflow, assisting customers and clinical staff, and helping maintain efficient laboratory operations.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
✅ Receive, process, label, centrifuge, and distribute specimens for testing
✅ Register patients and enter laboratory orders into hospital information systems
✅ Demonstrate expertise in specimen collection, handling, and processing requirements
✅ Research and resolve customer requests and issues
✅ Ensure follow-up and communication regarding patient care concerns
✅ Support billing, reference testing, scheduling, and laboratory operations
✅ Direct workflow and assist team members in meeting departmental expectations
✅ Train and support laboratory staff as needed
✅ Serve as a liaison between the laboratory, physicians, nursing teams, clients, and vendors
✅ Order and maintain laboratory supplies
✅ Process pathology specimens and coordinate courier pickups
✅ Document specimen quality concerns and participate in quality improvement efforts
✅ Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
✅ Assist with report distribution and departmental communications

🎯 Qualifications
📚 Education
• High School Diploma or GED required

💼 Experience
• Three (3) years of laboratory, patient care, or patient business experience required

📜 Licensure/Certification
• None required
