Job description
Boone County Health Center
Integrity. Compassion. Attentiveness. Respect. Excellence.
Clinical Informatics Specialist
Full-Time | Hospital & Clinic Support
Job Summary
At Boone County Health Center, our values guide everything we do: Integrity. Compassion. Attentiveness. Respect. Excellence.
These are more than words on a wall.
They define how we care for our patients, support our coworkers, and serve our communities every day.
As healthcare continues to evolve through technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence, our commitment to these values remains unchanged. We believe technology should enhance the work of caring professionals, not replace them.
We are seeking a motivated Clinical Informatics Specialist to help bridge the gap between healthcare and technology. This role partners with clinical staff, providers, leadership, and IT teams to improve workflows, optimize our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, and support technology solutions that enhance patient care.
This position plays an important role in helping Boone County Health Center evaluate, implement, and optimize healthcare technology solutions, including emerging AI-powered tools. The Clinical Informatics Specialist helps ensure these technologies support our staff, improve workflows, reduce administrative burden, and enhance patient care while preserving the human connections that make healthcare meaningful.
Technology alone doesn't make healthcare better. People do.
You may be reading this and thinking, "I've never worked in Informatics before." That's okay.
Many successful Informatics Specialists begin their careers as nurses, CNAs, medical assistants, HIM professionals, registration staff, or IT support specialists.
We're looking for people who enjoy solving problems, helping others, learning new technology, and finding better ways to work.
Whether you're a clinical professional looking for a new challenge, more consistent hours, or an opportunity to use your healthcare experience in a different way, or an IT professional who wants meaningful work that directly impacts patient care, we'll provide the training, mentorship, and support needed to help you succeed.
You won't be expected to figure everything out on your own. We have a strong and supportive team that will mentor you, answer questions, and help you develop the skills needed to succeed. We believe in investing in our employees and creating opportunities for long-term growth.
If you're passionate about helping others, enjoy learning new technology, and want to help shape the future of rural healthcare while preserving what makes community healthcare special, we'd love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
• Optimize EMR functionality to enhance clinical workflows and improve patient care outcomes.
• Collaborate with clinical staff, providers, leadership, IT, and vendor partners to implement and maintain EMR tools and applications.
• Participate in system upgrades, enhancements, testing, implementation, training, and post-implementation reviews.
• Analyze workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce redundancy, and enhance the user experience.
• Assist with evaluating and implementing emerging healthcare technologies, including AI-enabled tools.
• Provide reporting and data analysis to support regulatory compliance, quality improvement initiatives, and operational decision-making.
• Participate in technology governance and strategic planning activities.
• Deliver end-user training and support for clinical applications and workflows.
• Provide Level 1 IT support, including password resets and basic troubleshooting.
• Participate in an on-call rotation approximately one week per month. Additional compensation is provided for on-call responsibilities.
• Manage projects and assigned initiatives while maintaining accountability for timelines and outcomes.
Qualifications
We welcome applicants from either a clinical or technical background who are motivated to learn, collaborate, and improve healthcare through technology.
