Inpatient Certified Advanced Nutrition Coordinator-Mount Sinai Hospital
The Inpatient Certified Advanced Nutrition Coordinator (NICU) serves as the clinical expert for neonatal nutrition and provides advanced nutrition care for critically ill and medically complex neonates within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Utilizing advanced clinical expertise in neonatal nutrition support, fluid and electrolyte management, growth monitoring and intervention planning, human milk and formula feeding practices, and interdisciplinary care coordination, this position independently manages this specialized patient population and serves as a key resource to physicians, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, and nutrition professionals. The Advanced Nutrition Coordinator provides leadership in clinical practice, quality improvement, program development, research activities, staff education, and competency development. This role supports the advancement of evidence-based neonatal nutrition care, contributes to departmental and organizational strategic initiatives, and may assume delegated leadership responsibilities in collaboration with the Clinical Nutrition Manager/Director.
Responsibilities
• Coordinates the nutrition care of critically ill and medically complex neonates, including extremely low birth weight infants, premature infants, surgical neonates, and infants with congenital anomalies or complex medical conditions. Develops, monitors, and adjusts individualized enteral and parenteral nutrition regimens in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team for both pediatric and neonatal patients Provides NICU nutrition support, consultation, and coverage across Mount Sinai Health System NICU sites as needed Management of human milk fortification (donor and expressed) and specialized feeding formulation, including collaboration and oversight of the Milk/Formula Room. Works in partnership with the interdisciplinary team developing interventions and care plans to meet individualized needs of patients in the NICU. Completes documentation in the medical record per policy. Provides clinical leadership for neonatal and pediatric nutrition initiatives and serves as a subject matter expert for neonatal nutrition across assigned campuses and care settings. Participates in the oversight and continuous improvement of milk and formula preparation processes, donor human milk program, and feeding safety initiatives in the Milk/Formula Room. Provides comprehensive nutrition education and discharge planning for families and caregivers, including instruction on human milk fortification, formula preparation, enteral feeding regimens, growth monitoring, and transition of care to outpatient providers and community resources. Provides coverage to outpatient NICU follow-up programs. Assists with neonatal nutrition quality indicators and utilizes data to identify opportunities for clinical, operational, and patient safety improvement. Supports service line initiatives, program growth, and strategic planning activities related to neonatal nutrition services. Provides clinical oversight, mentorship, and advanced practice guidance to dietitians, dietetic interns, milk and formula coordinators, and other healthcare professionals involved in neonatal nutrition care. Develops and delivers educational programs, in-services, lectures, and interdisciplinary training related to neonatal nutrition, nutrition support, and feeding practices. Coordinates and participates in neonatal nutrition research, evidence-based practice initiatives, and scholarly activities designed to advance neonatal nutrition outcomes. Collaborates with physicians, researchers, trainees, and interdisciplinary teams on research projects, publications, presentations, and quality improvement studies. Participates in the recruitment, hiring, training, development, and discipline of department staff. Participates in staff competency evaluations and provides input regarding clinical performance, including professional development, hiring, onboarding, training, and performance appraisal completion, as assigned, Actively participates in department and hospital committees and meetings. Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, accountability, and a commitment to excellence in patient care. Fosters a culture of collaboration, respect, and continuous improvement among departmental and interdisciplinary team members. Supports department/program goals. Ensures compliance with department and hospital policies and procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Provides weekend and holiday coverage, as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution, with completion of ACEND (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition & Dietetics)-accredited dietetic internship
• Master’s Degree preferred

Experience Requirements
• 3+ years of clinical experience, minimum 1 year in pediatrics/NICU
• Research experience preferred

Licensing and Certification Requirements (if applicable)
• Registered Dietitian (RD) from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required
• Certified Dietitian Nutritionist (CDN) from the NYS Department of Education Office of the Professions preferred.
• Advanced Certification, i.e. Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition (CSP), Board Certified Specialist in Pediatric Critical Care Nutrition (CSPCC), Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) required

Compensation
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $79720 - $119580 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
