Job Overview
Fairview is looking to hire a Housekeeping Aide (Trash Tech) to join our team at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, Minnesota! This is a 0.6 FTE position (48 hours every two weeks) working the evening shift, including every other weekend. This position is benefit eligible. As a Trash Tech, you will play an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our patients, visitors, and staff. This position is responsible for the safe collection, handling, and disposal of waste throughout the hospital while following established safety, sanitation, and infection prevention guidelines.
Schedule:
• Shift: Evening, 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend

Week 1:
• Wednesday: 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.
• Thursday: 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.
• Saturday: 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.
• Sunday: 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.

Week 2:
• Monday: 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.
• Friday: 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.

Key Responsibilities
• Waste Collection: Regularly collect, transport, and properly dispose of general and medical waste, including biohazardous and potentially infectious materials, while following strict safety protocols.
• Waste Sorting and Segregation: Properly separate recyclable materials, general waste, and biohazardous waste to ensure safe handling and appropriate disposal.
• Safety and Compliance: Follow all applicable healthcare regulations, environmental guidelines, and organizational policies related to waste management and sanitation.
• Infection Prevention: Adhere to established infection control procedures to minimize contamination and reduce the risk of exposure to hazardous materials.
• Teamwork and Collaboration: Work closely with Environmental Services and other healthcare team members to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Emergency Response: Respond appropriately to spills, accidents, or situations involving hazardous materials by following established safety and emergency procedures.
• Training and Education: Participate in ongoing training to stay current on waste management practices, infection prevention, and workplace safety standards.

Perform cleaning duties as assigned to keep the facility orderly, attractive, clean, and sanitary.
Responsibilities
• Performs cleaning assignments per department procedures and protocols
• Uses proper chemical dilution rations
• Follows infection control practices and procedures
• Follows proper procedure for assigned area
• Completes assignments in a timely manner
• Uses proper equipment and supplies for task
• Replenishes supplies
• Properly handles soiled and clean linens in assigned areas
• Properly handles and disposes of biohazardous and non-biohazardous waste
• Uses good body mechanics
• Uses safe work practices i.e. floor signs, use of gloves, follow hazard signs/symbols
• Remains flexible to change assignments as needed
• Contributes process improvement ideas/suggestions
• Properly documents work assignments
• Demonstrates proper emergency and security response
• Takes immediate action as required to assist with emergency codes
• Unlocks and secures access to building as directed
• Cleans emergency spills as needed
• Demonstrates proper use and care of equipment
• Uses proper equipment for assignment/task
• Properly cares for equipment and acts for preventive maintenance
• Reports malfunctioning equipment
• Uses safety precautions
• Customer Service
• Uses appropriate verbal and nonverbal greetings
• Demonstrates a willing and helpful attitude
• Demonstrates respect for customer’s need for privacy
• Performs activities in a respectful, courteous, and responsive manner
• Transports furniture and equipment as requested

Preferred Qualifications
• High School diploma or GED
• Previous Housekeeping/Environmental Service experience
