HIV Health Educator

Job description

Inova 2740 Prosperity Ave is looking for a dedicated HIV Health Educator to join the team. This role will be full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM with a rotating weekend requirement (1-2 events per month). Travel is required for events located anywhere in Northern Virginia.

HIV Health Educator Job Responsibilities:
• Assists with wave rapid testing for HIV.
• Assists with the development of grant applications.
• Participates in the planning and implementation of conferences.
• Designs and distributes program brochures within timeframes defined by policy.
• Creates curriculum modules for specific Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) prevention/care topics.
• Identifies gaps in services by developing contacts with local AIDS service organizations.
• Provides assistance with program/policy development to community based organizations and healthcare providers.
• Collects data, as required, by funding source 95 percent of the time and assisting with the preparation of reports/grants.
• Conducts needs assessments in community based organizations and healthcare facilities, as determined by grant requirements.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field (or relevant experience in lieu of degree equivalent to 8 years)
• Experience: 3 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:
• Hours: Ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends.
• Travel : Must be comfortable to travel anywhere in Northern Virginia and must have reliable transportation to/from work.
• Experience : proficiency in HIV competencies; prior experience in outreach/community engagement; comfortability with leading community education (HIV education, safety, etc.)
• Skills : ability to work in a collaborative environment; punctuality; strong leadership qualities; strong interpersonal/communication skills
