Health Benefits Coordinator
Position Summary:
The Health Benefits Coordinator plays a key role in helping Access Community Health Centers patients obtain and keep the coverage they need to receive care. This position screens patients for coverage and financial assistance options and serves as a primary resource for patients and staff with questions or concerns about coverage and the financial impact of care. By removing financial barriers, this role supports better health outcomes and access to care for the communities we serve.
In this role, the Health Benefits Coordinator works with our patients to identify opportunities for coverage or financial support and guide them through the option that best fits their situation. This includes assisting with Medicaid (Medical Assistance) applications and enrollment, referring patients to community partners for Health Insurance Marketplace enrollment, and enrolling patients in community charity care programs when they need care outside of Access. When insurance coverage is not an option, this role assists patients with enrollment in Access’s sliding fee discount program. This position also helps patients understand program requirements and renewals, gather documentation, and follow up on application status, while documenting screening, enrollment, and referral activity.
Required Qualifications:
• A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
• External candidates: Two years of health care experience and/or social services experience or an associate’s degree in health care, social services, or related field
• Internal candidates: One year of healthcare experience and/or social services experience
• Basic computer skills to be able to send and receive email and use programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word

Desired Qualifications:
• Experience in health benefits counseling
• Previous experience using Epic medical software
• Fluent in Spanish and English

Compensation and Benefits:
Our total compensation package includes competitive wages and a full range of attractive benefits.
Hours of operation: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
Compensation starts at $21.80 and is adjusted based on experience.
