Overview
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for performing all generalist functions such as: Partnering with employees and management to communicate various HR policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations; conducting confidential/sensitive investigations; preparing/maintaining employee handbook; conducting exit interviews; analyzing data and making recommendations to management for corrective action and continuous improvement; responding to employee relation issues and partnering with the Director of HR to determine an effective action plan; responding to EDD claims including disability claims, unemployment claims, employee benefits and HR audits; LOA, Workers Compensation claims, maintaining accurate reporting in the HRIS database; recruiting candidates and processing new hires, promotions, terminations using established procedures. Assists the Director of Human Resources in administering policies and procedures relating to hospital personnel. Directs the work of the Benefits Specialist, Human Resource Technician and other department personnel. The Director of Human Resources supervises the Human Resource Generalist, as well as other department personnel
Responsibilities
Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including posting jobs, sourcing candidates, screening candidates, coordinating interviews with hiring managers as needed.
Collaborate with hiring managers to define role requirements and develop effective sourcing strategies to attract qualified talent.
Coordinate new hire onboarding processes, offer letters, background checks, health screening and ensuring a smooth and welcoming transition into the company.
Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans (401k), and disability. Lead the annual open enrollment process, advising employees on plan changes and options, and ensuring timely enrollment.Maintain accurate employee data in the HR Information System (HRIS) regarding benefits enrollment and changes.
Accurately processes payroll changes (merit increases, status changes, etc.) and brings any questionable changes to the Director's attention. Also, accurately updates the job code table as needed.
Ensuring benefits are offered, enrolled, and documented correctly by the deadlines.
Is fully aware of the confidential aspect of the position and always fulfills this requirement accordingly.
Accurately explains and interprets policies to employees.
Ensures Interviews and tests are conducted legally and elicit work and skill related information regarding the applicant.
Always reports all terminations to the Payroll Coordinator within 3 days of the effective/receiving date, supports and helps existing staff.
Always sends notifications to those employees with expiring work authorizations at least one month before the expiration date.
Always completes statistics reports for the Administration on a monthly basis.
As directed by the Director, places job advertisements in the appropriate publication by the deadline.
Always completes the appropriate forms for all medical only/indemnity workers' compensation claims within 5 days of the date of injury and forwards to the insurance carrier.
Ensures all employees receive a Claim Form (DWC 1) for their work-related injury as required by state law.
Updates the facility job posting and job line on a bi-weekly basis or when necessary.
Accurately prepares the transfer summary form and sends the personnel file when an employee transfers to a sister facility within one week of the transfer date.
Always obtains thorough reference checks on prospective candidates.
Always sends the annual reorientation list and the late reorientation list by the 15th of each month.
Perform regular audits of benefits data, PTO plans and generate reports for management.
When necessary, always provides department managers/supervisors recommendations in the disciplinary process.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
One to two years of previous Human Resources experience in an acute care hospital setting.Graduation from a recognized college or university with a degree in Business Administration, Personnel Management or Industrial Relations preferred.Knowledgeable of Google Sheets, Docs, G Drive and ther Google software.
Leave of Absence and Workers Compensation experience is required. One to two years of supervisory experience preferred.
