The Faculty & Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) Psychologist provides behavioral health services to UCSF faculty, staff, residents, fellows, and other eligible employees. The position provides brief, confidential mental health counseling; behavioral health consultation to managers and leaders; workplace and organizational interventions; referral and care coordination; training and psychoeducation; and support for complex workplace behavioral health concerns.
The psychologist also contributes to the development and delivery of FSAP programs and services and provides clinical supervision, training, and mentorship to postdoctoral psychology fellows. The position requires strong clinical judgment, consultation skills, cultural responsiveness, and the ability to work effectively within a complex academic health system.
Clinical Services and Employee Support
• Provide brief, evidence-informed mental health counseling to eligible UCSF employees presenting with personal, professional, and workplace concerns.
• Conduct clinical assessment, risk assessment, treatment planning, brief intervention, and referral to appropriate community and health plan resources.
• Provide timely support for employees experiencing acute distress, grief and loss, traumatic events, workplace stress, relationship concerns, substance use concerns, and other behavioral health needs.
• Maintain appropriate clinical documentation and practice in accordance with professional, ethical, legal, and organizational standards.

Behavioral Health and Organizational Consultation
• Provide behavioral health consultation to managers, supervisors, faculty leaders, and other organizational stakeholders regarding complex employee and workplace concerns.
• Consult on behavioral health issues involving workplace functioning, employee distress, interpersonal and team dynamics, organizational transitions, substance use concerns, grief, and safety-related concerns.
• Design and facilitate workplace and organizational interventions, including group support, facilitated discussions, retreats, and other interventions responsive to departmental needs.
• Collaborate with appropriate UCSF partners while maintaining the professional boundaries and role of FSAP.

Training and Program Development
• Develop, implement, and evaluate behavioral health, mental health, and workplace well-being programs responsive to emerging employee and organizational needs.
• Design and deliver workshops, webinars, trainings, and psychoeducational programs for employees, managers, leaders, and teams.
• Contribute to the development of new FSAP services, clinical initiatives, educational resources, and organizational interventions.
• Use utilization data, participant feedback, outcome measures, emerging research, and organizational needs to inform continuous program improvement.
• Participate in strategic initiatives that expand the reach, quality, and impact of FSAP services across UCSF.

Postdoctoral Fellowship Supervision and Training
• Provide clinical supervision to FSAP postdoctoral psychology fellows in accordance with applicable professional, licensing, and training requirements.
• Support fellows in the development of clinical assessment, brief intervention, consultation, risk assessment, referral, and organizational behavioral health competencies.
• Provide case consultation, feedback, mentorship, and professional development support.
• Participate in fellowship training activities, seminars, case conferences, recruitment, selection, onboarding, and evaluation of fellows.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and evaluation of the FSAP postdoctoral training program.

Collaboration and Institutional Support
• Collaborate with UCSF partners and multidisciplinary teams on complex behavioral health and workplace matters, as appropriate to the FSAP role.
• Participate in FSAP team meetings, case consultation, quality improvement, and program planning.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external behavioral health resources to facilitate referrals and continuity of care.
• Represent FSAP in institutional committees, workgroups, presentations, and other initiatives as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Current California license as a psychologist
• Demonstrated experience providing psychological assessment, brief counseling, and evidence-informed interventions with adults.
• Experience assessing and managing clinical risk and complex behavioral health concerns.
• Experience working in an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), academic medical center, healthcare system, university, or other complex organizational setting.
• Experience providing behavioral health consultation to managers, leaders, and other organizational stakeholders.
• Experience developing and delivering behavioral health programs, trainings, workshops, and workplace or organizational interventions.
• Strong written, verbal, consultation, facilitation, and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and organizational functions.
• Demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive clinical practice and working effectively with diverse populations.

PREFERRED:
• Experience providing clinical supervision to psychology trainees or postdoctoral fellows.
• Experience in workplace Threat Management
• Experience evaluating programs and using outcome or utilization data to inform service development and improvement.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:
• Current California license as a psychologist
