Position Summary:
Saint Anthony Hospital (SAH) seeks an accomplished leader to serve as the Executive Director of the SAH Foundation, a tax-exempt, fundraising entity established to support to the hospital.
This position reports to the Vice President of External Affairs and Philanthropy, and works closely with hospital leadership to determine priorities, formalize decision-making structures and ensure alignment between the SAH Foundation and the hospital. It serves as a key ambassador to the foundation Board, donors, partners, and other stakeholders.
To advance the hospital’s mission and philanthropic goals, this executive provides visionary, strategic, and tactical leadership, and provides oversight of day-to-day foundation operations and management.
This position is responsible for leading the implementation of a comprehensive fundraising plan in support of a $200M+ capital campaign for the building of a new hospital, as well as annual fundraising supporting hospital programs and services.
Strategic Leadership
• Partners with hospital leadership to design, implement, and evaluate long- and short-range fundraising strategies; strengthen and expand institutional, corporate, and individual partnerships; and increase annual and campaign contributions.
• Provides leadership on the $200M capital campaign in partnership with the VP of External Affairs and Philanthropy, and other hospital management. Plays an active role in the planning, execution, and reporting of the campaign.
• Leads collaborative efforts to establish the hospital’s program priorities, develop robust decision-making frameworks, and ensure alignment between the Foundation and hospital

Fundraising & Development
• In partnership with VP of External Affairs and Philanthropy, provides leadership on all fundraising activities. Drives philanthropic revenue growth by building and implementing a comprehensive annual giving program alongside major and campaign gift initiatives.
• Collaborates with Marketing resources to develop innovative and compelling marketing and engagement strategies that elevate fundraising campaigns and inspire donor giving. Oversees development of all fundraising materials including annual and campaign solicitations, stewardship, and cultivation collateral.
• Maintains a personal portfolio of major gift prospects with particular focus on the capital campaign, through active donor engagement, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.

Operations and Management
• Oversees the Foundation’s strategic initiatives, as well as the day-to-day operations and functions, including but not limited to supervising Foundation staff and consultants; establishing systems and processes that support efficient operations; ensuring Foundation’s technology systems are fully utilized for tracking employee activity, managing donor journeys, and reporting fundraising performance.
• Monitors performance measures to inform strategy and forecasting in collaboration with VP of External Affairs and Philanthropy, Finance and hospital leadership.

Community Relations & Collaboration
• Builds positive relationships with philanthropic organizations, corporate partners, individual contributors, and community organizations and stakeholders.
• Coordinates with relevant hospital departments, including but not limited to Marketing, Community Relations, and clinical departments for alignment on external/stakeholder communications and to further support and elevate the Foundation’s fundraising goals.
• Represents the Foundation at public events, meetings, and community functions.

Board Relations & Governance
• Serves as a key liaison to the Foundation Board of Directors
• Prepares board materials and reports.
• Drives board engagement in fundraising initiatives.

Experience & Education
• Bachelors in nonprofit management, business administration, public administration, communications, marketing, or a related field. Master’s degree and/or CFRE (Certified Fund-Raising Executive) designation preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in fundraising, philanthropy, or nonprofit management. This must include senior-level responsibility for strategic planning, multi-million-dollar revenue generation, and team management.
• Experience with large fundraising campaigns and donor engagement for annual and campaign giving.
• Significant experience planning, leading, or participating in comprehensive fundraising campaigns.

Core Competencies & Skills
• A proven track record of developing and successfully executing diverse fundraising strategies encompassing major gifts, principal gifts, annual giving, and/or institutional partnerships.
• Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, leadership, and organizational and fiscal management.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to inspire confidence and build consensus among executive leadership, governing boards, donors, and other stakeholders.
• Strong public speaking and representation skills, capable of serving as an authentic and compelling ambassador for Saint Anthony Hospital’s mission and community impact.
• Experience with a healthcare organization and/or knowledge of healthcare industry or philanthropy is preferred.
