POSITION PURPOSE
The Emergency Department Tech II position works alongside physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers to deliver safe, efficient and patient-centered care. This role is essential to ensuring the highest level of patient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. MINIMUM MANDATORY qualifications
Experience:
• Minimum one (1) year experience in patient transport or acute care setting.

Education:
• High school diploma or High School Equivalency Test (HSE) required.

Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:
• Current valid Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate (EMT-I) certification in the State of New Mexico.
• Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
• Knowledge of EMT scope of practice in New Mexico. Understanding of applicable laws of acute care operations such as EMTALA.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in dealing with a variety of individuals.
• Strong skill set with various computer and telecommunication devices.
• A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within six (6) months of hire.
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale Training annually.
• Annual hospital-wide competencies and compliance education as assigned.

Preferred qualifications
• Proficiency in splint application.
• Bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
