Job Overview
This position reports to the Vice President of the Community Practice Operations (South and West) & Network Integration and serves as a key leader within Ambulatory at Tufts Medicine. The role provides operational and strategic oversight across the South region and in alignment with Ambulatory within the broader Tufts network.
In addition, this leader will oversee the Tufts Medicine Multi-Specialty location in Quincy, as well as Middleton, including not only operations, but also growth within these practices. Operating within a collaborative leadership model and with a focus on service excellence in the ambulatory environment, this position is accountable for:
• Ensuring high-quality patient access and experience
• Driving financial performance and profitability
• Optimizing all revenue cycle processes
• Advancing strategic initiatives across the region and potentially across Ambulatory as a whole, when designated

This role plays a critical part in shaping the Tufts Medicine ambulatory strategy, enhancing operational effectiveness, and supporting the delivery and expansion of exceptional care within the community.
Location: Hybrid and at sites within the designated region (e.g., Quincy & Middleton)
Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience such as Associate’s degree in business, healthcare, or a related field and two (2) years of relevant business experience or High School Diploma or GED and four (4) years of relevant business experience.
• Seven (7) years of healthcare management or practice management experience working directly with physicians and practice members.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in business, healthcare, or a related field.
• Ten (10) years of healthcare management or practice management experience working directly with physicians and practice members.

Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
• Directs the practice operations managers in the day-to-day operations of their employed outpatient physician practices to ensure each practice is meeting optimal operational efficiency, fiscal stability and patient/employee satisfaction.
• Collaborates with the practice operations managers in the implementation of best practice models in all areas of practices operations. Develops guidelines for prioritizing work activities, evaluating effectiveness and modifying activities as necessary.
• Evaluates practice efficiency including all personnel (physicians, clinical and administrative support staff) utilizing accepted quality measures, productivity standards, skill mix comparisons, and patient satisfaction survey data. Implements new operational models and structures to reduce cost, improve efficiency and quality, and enhance services to patients.
• Participates in the development of and oversees budgets for the practices. Reviews monthly P&L reports in detail, determines opportunities for improvements, and creates and implements action plans with practice operations managers as necessary.
• Conducts monthly operations team meetings to review new policies and procedures, processes, quality measures, etc., and monthly one-on-one meetings with each practice manager at each practice location to provide individual support and leadership.
• Initiates and maintains all policy and procedure manuals. Develops and implements standardized processes for practices to ensure consistency throughout the physician network. Works with practice operations managers to ensure practices meet required compliance and clinical competency thresholds.
• Works collaboratively with the physician recruitment team on the provider enrollment onboarding activities related to new practice acquisitions or new employed providers. Works closely with the provider recruitment team, practice operations manager and provider(s) throughout the onboarding life cycle to ensure timeliness and deliverables are met for a seamless transition and successful implementation.
• In collaboration with the Vice President of Physician Services, implements the transition plan for newly acquired physician practices. Acts as liaison to physicians, support staff, operations team, hospital departments, and hospital administration. Responsible for the human resources, payroll, finance, and purchasing components of the acquisitions.
• Works collaboratively with representatives from the physician organizations to ensure that our practices and providers are achieving a high level of performance under managed risk contracts as we transition to a value-based model. Commitment to transformation and innovation in care delivery through the Practice of the Future work will also be a measure of success.

• Able to see and read computers displays, read fine print, and/or normal type size print and distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

• Ability to travel to various locations both within the state and outside the state.

Job Profile Summary
This role focuses on providing administrative and business support to the organization in order to achieve operational goals. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Clinical Administration duties: Long-term strategic planning, determines strategic issues and opportunities that could affect practice success, prioritizes and tracks investments across practices, allocates resources and makes decisions regarding practice growth, and develops need to accomplish the practice's vision. A management role that supervises employees focusing on tactical, operational activities within a specified area, with the majority of time spent overseeing area of responsibility, planning, prioritizing and/or directing the responsibilities of employees. Goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of direct and/or indirect reports. A role that directs a department or small unit that includes multiple teams led by managers and/or team Leaders. Responsibilities typically include: ownership of short to mid-term (1-3 years) execution of functional strategy and the operational direction of the Department, problems faced are often complex and require extensive investigation and analysis, and requires ability to influence others to accept practices and approaches, and ability to communicate and influence executive leadership.

Pay Range :
$111,175.79 - $141,756.53
based on full-time equivalent
