Job description

Responsible for delivery of patient tray carts to nursing departments and retrieves them in a timely manner according to set schedule. Inventories and stocks nourishments on wards according to floor supply work sheet.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
1. Knows tray cart delivery route beginning with ER, ICU, OB, Med./Surg, and Peds. Delivers and retrieves carts/trays in a timely manner according to set schedule.
• Checks ward kitchens for dirty trays after each meal and brings them down to be washed. Leaves one tray cart in OB and Med./Surg. wards for late trays.
• Dismantles trays, scrapes plates and appropriately discards garbage and waste; Stacks trays and dishes for dishwasher.
• Cleans all utility carts in the hall after each day with germicidal cleaner.
• Inventories nourishments on wards and doctors lounges in a timely manner and delivers necessary nourishments to bring each ward/lounge up to par stock.
• Provides an ample supply of snacks and nourishments in doctors lounges and keeps a continuous stock of coffee in East and West wings at all times.
• Responsible for keeping storage areas orderly and putting items used back in proper place.
• Helps staff with food preparation, cleaning and ware washing when needed
• Maintains floor supply work sheet with correct count of nourishments delivered to wards and lounges.
• Responsible for passing out patient menu’s when needed.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES :
• Keeps amply supply of frozen nocturnal meals to all wards as per floor supply work sheet.
• Completes cleaning assignments in a timely manner according to cleaning schedule.
• Reports to work on time.
• Adheres to hospital code pertaining to dress, personal appearance and conduct.
• Promotes positive patient/intra-facility relations and a caring environment.
• Attends department/staff meetings as required.
• Follows hospital policies and procedures.
• Maintains confidentially of patient and employee information.
• Performs other related duties as needed to facilitate workflow and to promote health care
