Summary:
Assists the Cardiologist in the performance of diagnostic and interventional procedures in the cardiovascular lab such as angioplasty with stenting and related procedures. Monitors radiation safety for physicians patients and staff. Interprets hemodynamic data patient lab data cardiac arrhythmias and ECG interpretation while recording a procedure to assure quality patient care. Assists Electrophysiologist with related procedures. Applies critical thinking skills in difficult or challenging cases. Leads and mentors the CVS Technician.
Education:
Essential:
• Graduate from an accredited Cardiovascular or Radiology Program

Education specialization:
Essential:
• Cardiovascular Technology

Experience:
Essential:
• One Year related experience

Licensure:
CVT CCT obtain RCIS or RCES Certification with 2 years of entry into cardiac vascular service department. Paramedic CST (Surgical Techs) will have additional year to obtain RCIS or RCES from the time they enter the cardiac vascular service line. ARRT are exempt from RCIS or RCES certification.
Credentials:
Essential:
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - ARRT or
• Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (Registered) RCIS
• Basic Life Support - American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Red Cross or American Heart Association
