Coder/Abstractor, CCA

Job description

Job Summary:
The Coder/Abstractor, CCA works with assigned coding mentor to accurately codes, sequences and abstracts inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department records according to ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines.
• Minimum Job Requirements:

Work Experience:
One year of inpatient or outpatient coding preferred.
License/Registration/Certification:
Certified Coding Associate (CCA) required.
Certified Coding Specialist required to be obtained within 12 months of hire.
Education and Training:
High School diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree in related field preferred.
Skills:
• Knowledge of Health Information Systems practices, procedures, and guidelines.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems.
• Ability to seek out new methods and principles to improve services.
• Ability to utilize verbal and written communication skills effectively.
