Job Summary
Provides comprehensive pharmacy services to support safe, effective, efficient, and cost-effective medication therapy. Works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to assess patient-specific medication needs, manage medication therapy, and promote optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities may include medication distribution, order management, medication monitoring, drug information, and medication dosing. Ensures compliance with department policies, Board of Pharmacy requirements, and other applicable regulatory standards.
Provides oversight and direction to Pharmacy Technicians within the assigned area and may assist with training and onboarding pharmacy team members and learners. Works independently within the scope of licensure and established policies, procedures, and practice guidelines, with support from Pharmacy Leadership. May provide leadership coverage or assume additional pharmacy leadership responsibilities as designated.
Specific responsibilities may vary based on the assigned area of practice and will be maintained internally by the Department of Pharmacy.
Primary Responsibilities
• Provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care, promoting safe and effective medication use and optimal drug therapy.
• Reviews patient-specific information, evaluates medication needs, verifies medication orders, and oversees medication preparation, dispensing, distribution, and monitoring.
• Collaborates with physicians, nurses, pharmacy staff, allied health professionals, patients, and caregivers to provide medication-related consultation and education.
• Serves as a preceptor and supports the training and development of pharmacy learners and new team members as assigned.
• Participates in quality improvement and medication-use initiatives designed to improve patient safety, clinical outcomes, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
• Oversees and directs the work of Pharmacy Technicians and other pharmacy staff within the assigned area, ensuring department and service standards are maintained.
• Participates in and/or provides direct patient care across applicable clinical settings and areas of practice.
• Maintains compliance with department policies, professional standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Work Experience
• Doctorate of Pharmacy Required (PharmD) unless graduated from U.S. School of Pharmacy in or before 2003 OR Foreign Equivalent.
• Maryland Pharmacist License.
• 1 year of experience preferred.

Compensation
• Pay Range: $57.13-$85.75
• Other Compensation (if applicable): Shift Differential
