Your future role at a glance
• Location: Tulsa, OK
• Facility: Ascension Medical Group
• Department/Specialty: Revenue Cycle
• Schedule: Full-time days, Monday - Friday, 8a - 5p

How you’ll make an impact in this role
• Coding and Documentation: Assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT procedure codes, diagnosis pointers, and modifiers for cranial, spine, and peripheral nerve cases across office, hospital, inpatient, outpatient, ASC, and postoperative settings.
• CPT Coding Compliance: Apply CPT hierarchy, sequencing, add-on codes, unit logic, MUE limits, NCCI edits, global surgical package rules, and multiple-procedure reductions accurately.
• Modifier Application and Validation: Apply appropriate surgical modifiers, validate documentation supporting technique-dependent codes, and query surgeons or mid-level providers when clarification is needed.
• Quality and Productivity: Maintain coding accuracy in accordance with internal audit standards and payer requirements, participate in coding audits, and meet established coding turnaround targets.

What minimum requirements you’ll need
Licensure / Certification / Registration
• Required Credential(s):
• One or more of the following:
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Certified Outpatient Coding (COC) credentialed from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credentialed from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Medical Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credentialed from the Practice Management Institute (PMI) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Coder obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Reg Health Info Admnstr credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Reg Health Info Tech credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education
• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. *Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Additional Preferences
• Previous coding experience preferred
• Comfortable with coding different specialties
