Certified Medical Assistant I, Full Time - Variable, Orthopedic Surgery, New Providence

Job description

Principal Accountabilities:
• Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers appropriate screening tools.
• Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes and records vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.
• Assists with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, ensures verification and recording of clinical data and adherence to quality standards.
• Monitors environment for compliance with continual accreditation readiness and evaluates practice schedule for changes or updates.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the certified medical assistant scope of practice, incorporating elements of holistic patient-centered and team-based care.
• Guides patients through the health care system and helps patients arrive at scheduled appointments on time.
• Provides emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
• Assists with referrals of patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis or treatment.
• Fit patients with durable medical equipment
• Administrative duties including answering phones, obtaining authorizations, and replying to patient messages
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Cross coverage is required for both locations in the event continuity of coverage is needed. Flexibility for locations and shifts is required. There is a third satellite location in Warren.

Required:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• National Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program.

National Certification CCMA from: NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT.
Preferred:
• Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.
• 1 year of experience in Health Care services.
• Strong communication and teamwork is required.
