Boiler Operator III-Atlantic Health Newton Medical Center-Per Diem (As Needed)

Job description

Responsible for running, maintaining, and repairing boilers and other systems. Ensures that the boiler systems are kept in proper working order in each facility. Starts and stops boilers and takes readings as required. Performs basic water testing and adds chemicals as needed. Maintains all documentation regarding EPA, state, and local codes for compliance.
Principal Accountabilities:
• Ensures all safety checks on boiler, tanks, pumps and motors and monitors boiler plant conditions.
• Validates all logbook entries and conducts maintenance as instructed by the Chief Engineer.
• Assures steam generation to entire hospital for heat, hot water, dietary and central supply.
• Monitors fuel levels and checks records, maintains all documentation regarding EPA, state and local codes for compliance.
• Repairs and maintains water softener for domestic cold-water pumps.
• Tests boiler water for chemical composition so to maintain boiler water treatment and add as required.
• Responds to floor requests when boilers are turned down to low pressure.
• Oversees general clean up and preventive maintenance on all boiler room equipment's.
• Stocks inventory tools, supplies, and other resources.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in Boiler Operations or relevant area.

Preferred:
• NJ State Boiler Operator license.
• NJ Black Seal, High Pressure license.
