Overview
Position Summary:
Plans, integrates, controls, and evaluates staff, material, and fiscal resources required to provide
patient care in the Operating Room. Facilitates, coordinates, and manages staff, material, and
financial resources to achieve patient outcomes/care and to promote professional
development/practice of staff.
Responsibilities
Position Specific Competencies:
• Able to deal with frustration and stress appropriately. Remains calm under pressure.
• Effectively and professionally communicates with other staff, physicians, shift supervisor and
ancillary departments
• Uses appropriate problem-solving approach to plan performance of services.
• Provides services with consideration of the physical, psycho-social, cultural/spiritual, and agespecific needs of those served.
• Use equipment/supplies correctly.
• Uses appropriate safety and infection control measures.
• Teaches/directs/advises/informs others in an appropriate manner.
• Reports/records information correctly.
• Ensures critical services are provided during inclement weather disasters.
• Able to rotate in clinical role as staff when needed.
• OR Administrative Call Schedule with other nurse assistants as needed.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the
essential functions of this position.
Education/formal training/licensure/certification experience:
1. Current North Carolina RN license or RN multi-state licensure privilege through the Nurse
Licensure Compact required.
• BSN degree preferred.
• Minimum of three years OR experience required
• Minimum of one year experience in specialty area
• BCLS required
• CNOR preferred
• RNFA experience recommended

1. Communicates effectively with a wide range of age groups, ethnic, educational, and
socioeconomic backgrounds.
2. Demonstrates physical assessment skills. Displays effective organizational skills, with ability
to prioritize with accuracy and speed.
• Illustrates efficient computer skills within service provided.
• Shows effective problem solving and can develop critical thinking skills. Maintains clinical
and professional competency levels required of age-specific populations.
5. Must be an effective team-oriented leader, assisting and mentoring others to facilitate patient
and/or customer satisfaction.
6. Able to identify appropriate staffing, supply, maintenance, and equipment needs and adjust as
necessary within budgetary guidelines.
7. Able to serve as a positive role model, be flexible/open to change, function effectively under
pressure.
8. Collaborates with Nurse Manager to complete staff evaluations/counseling/disciplinary
actions
