BE PART OF OUR MISSION!
Are you passionate about helping older adults live meaningful, independent lives at home with grace and dignity? BoldAge PACE is an all-inclusive program of care, personalized to meet the individual health and well-being needs of our participants. Our approach is simple: We listen to our participants and their caregivers to truly understand their needs and desires.
SUMMARY: The PRN Advocacy Specialist supports BoldAge PACE’s Government Relations function by helping translate advocacy strategy into organized, actionable efforts across current, developing, and newly established PACE markets. Working closely with the Vice President of Government Relations, this role coordinates state- and market-specific advocacy resources, tracks priorities and follow-up activities, maintains stakeholder and community partner information, and identifies opportunities to strengthen engagement and awareness. The Advocacy Specialist also provides “boots on the ground” support in developing markets by building connections with community organizations, aging and healthcare stakeholders, local leaders, policymakers, and other potential partners. The role may attend community meetings and events, support stakeholder outreach, and provide education about the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) to help build awareness, relationships, and community support.
This PRN position is well suited for an organized, resourceful, and relationship-focused professional who can move effectively between research and coordination responsibilities and direct community engagement while providing additional capacity as BoldAge PACE continues to grow and expand into new markets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
State & Market Advocacy Coordination
• Maintain organized advocacy and government relations resources for each BoldAge PACE state and market.
• Maintain state and market profiles containing relevant legislative, regulatory, agency, stakeholder, association, community, and advocacy information.
• Maintain a centralized system for tracking advocacy priorities, market needs, contacts, activities, deadlines, opportunities, and follow-up items.
• Track the status of advocacy and stakeholder-engagement activities across potential, developing, and operational markets.
• Maintain contact lists and relationship histories for policymakers, state agencies, community organizations, healthcare organizations, aging-services organizations, associations, and other key stakeholders.
• Organize advocacy materials, presentations, fact sheets, talking points, letters, contact information, market intelligence, and other resources so they can be readily deployed when needed.
• Assist the VP of Government Relations with tracking commitments, follow-up items, meetings, and next steps across multiple states and markets.
Market Research & Preparation
• Conduct research on potential and developing PACE markets, including community characteristics, aging resources, healthcare infrastructure, local organizations, government structure, and potential community partners.
• Develop stakeholder maps and market-specific outreach lists.
• Research upcoming community meetings, conferences, legislative events, aging-services meetings, health-related events, and other opportunities for PACE education and relationship development.
• Prepare market briefing materials for the VP of Government Relations and other organizational leaders.
Community-level Advocacy & Market Engagement
• Travel to potential, developing, and newly established BoldAge PACE markets to provide in-person advocacy and community engagement support.
• Serve as an on-the-ground resource to help introduce and educate communities about PACE.
• Meet with community organizations, aging-services providers, healthcare organizations, local leaders, advocacy organizations, and other stakeholders to provide general information about PACE and its role in supporting older adults.
• Attend community meetings, coalition meetings, conferences, legislative events, aging-services meetings, and other relevant activities on behalf of BoldAge PACE as directed.
• Help identify local champions, community partners, and organizations interested in learning more about or supporting PACE.
• Support the development of relationships before and during the establishment of new PACE programs.
• Assist with community presentations, informational sessions, stakeholder meetings, site visits, and educational events.
• Provide timely reports to the VP of Government Relations regarding market observations, stakeholder feedback, emerging issues, opportunities, and recommended follow-up.
Advocacy & PACE Education
• Assist in developing clear, accessible educational materials explaining PACE, the populations it serves, and its role within the healthcare and aging-services continuum.
• Adapt advocacy and educational resources for specific states, markets, and audiences.
• Help community stakeholders understand the PACE model and how PACE can complement existing healthcare, aging, and community resources.
• Support advocacy efforts that place PACE participants, families, caregivers, and community needs at the center of policy discussions.
• Assist with presentations, talking points, leave-behinds, briefing documents, advocacy toolkits, and other materials.
• Help ensure consistent messaging about PACE across developing markets.
Government Relations Support
• Support the VP of Government Relations with selected federal, state, and local government relations initiatives.
• Track relevant legislative, regulatory, agency, and policy developments as assigned.
• Assist with scheduling and preparing for meetings with policymakers, government agencies, associations, and community leaders.
• Coordinate meeting materials, background information, follow-up correspondence, and action items.
• Assist with advocacy days, legislative visits, site visits, and other government relations activities.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Government Relations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Master’s degree in a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in advocacy, government relations, community engagement, healthcare, aging services, nonprofit work, project coordination, or market development.
• Strong organizational, research, communication, and follow-through skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and markets.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate outreach, build stakeholder relationships, and communicate complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Experience supporting culturally responsive community engagement and education.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365; ability to travel and work a flexible PRN schedule as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with PACE, Medicare, Medicaid, LTSS, aging services, healthcare advocacy, or community-based healthcare.
• Experience with multi-market outreach, stakeholder engagement, coalition building, grassroots advocacy, or market expansion.
• Familiarity with legislative/regulatory processes and CRM or project-tracking systems.
• Experience presenting to or facilitating meetings with community stakeholders.
• Bilingual or multilingual proficiency strongly preferred, with experience engaging culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
