Job Description
Endeavor Health is seeking a motivated and skilled Physician Assistant to join its established Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery practice. This position offers an opportunity to work collaboratively with experienced plastic surgeons while maintaining a substantial degree of clinical autonomy. The PA will play an integral role in the postoperative care of patients undergoing a broad range of reconstructive and aesthetic procedures, independent evaluation and management of selected new patient consultations, performance of office-based procedures, and coordination of daily clinical operations. This is a primarily outpatient position with scheduled operating room participation approximately 2–3 times per month. No inpatient rounding, hospital consultations, or inpatient management responsibilities are required.
The PA will evaluate and manage postoperative patients following a wide variety procedure, including complex implant-based and autologous breast reconstruction, general reconstruction, and aesthetic surgeries. Responsibilities include postoperative assessments, pain management, wound and drain care, patient education, and identification and management of surgical complications, including wound healing problems, infections, and seromas. The PA will oversee and perform tissue expander expansions, coordinate subsequent stages of reconstruction, and collaborate with attending surgeons regarding the need for additional surgical intervention.
The PA will also independently evaluate selected new patient consultations, including patients presenting with skin and soft tissue lesions, acute and chronic wounds, scars, and traumatic soft tissue injuries. Responsibilities include obtaining histories, performing physical examinations, developing differential diagnoses, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, and formulating treatment plans. The PA will determine which patients are appropriate for office-based treatment and which require consultation with or surgical intervention by an attending plastic surgeon.
A significant component of this position involves performing office-based surgical procedures independently, within the PA's scope of practice and demonstrated competency. Procedures include excision of skin and subcutaneous lesions, scar revision, incision and drainage of abscesses, aspiration and management of seromas, wound debridement, and wound closure. The PA will provide appropriate procedural documentation, postoperative instructions, and follow-up care.
The PA will participate in OR procedures approximately 2–3 times per month, serving as a surgical first assistant to attending plastic surgeons.
In addition to direct patient care, the PA will assist in overseeing and coordinating the daily clinical activities of nursing staff and medical assistants.
There is also an opportunity for the PA to provide aesthetic services, including botulinum toxin (Botox) and dermal filler injections.
