Advanced Practice Provider (APP/NP/PA) Pediatric Rheumatology and Infusion

Job description

UVA Health Children’s is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join Pediatric Rheumatology and the Pediatric Infusion Center. This newly created position will expand access and continuity for children with rheumatologic and autoimmune conditions while providing clinical support for children receiving infusion therapies across multiple pediatric subspecialties.
Approximately 50% of the APP’s clinical practice will support Pediatric Rheumatology, with the remaining 50% supporting the Pediatric Infusion Center. The APP will work closely with physicians, APPs, nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members across both clinical areas. The goal is a four-day, 10-hour schedule with coverage divided between Rheumatology and Infusion. The APP should be capable of evaluating complex rheumatologic conditions, which requires a comprehensive review of a patient's history along with thorough physical examinations.

The Role
Responsibilities will include:
• Evaluate and manage children with rheumatologic and autoimmune conditions, including ongoing treatment and follow-up care.
• Develop and coordinate treatment plans in collaboration with Pediatric Rheumatology physicians and other clinical partners.
• Monitor children receiving infusion therapies and provide day-of-treatment clinical care.
• Assess infusion safety and recognize and respond to infusion-related reactions or other unexpected clinical events.
• Support treatment plans and clinical workflows within Epic Beacon.
• Collaborate with physicians, APPs, nurses, and specialty teams caring for children receiving infusion therapies.
• Provide patient and family education and longitudinal follow-up.
• Potential for compensated evening call support.
• Develop an independent rheumatology patient schedule as clinical knowledge and autonomy grow.
• Help improve access, continuity, and timely specialty care for children and families.

This position is well suited for an APP with a strong pediatric clinical foundation who enjoys multidisciplinary care, clinical variety, and developing longitudinal relationships with children and families. Pediatric rheumatology, infusion therapy, treatment planning, or Epic Beacon experience is preferred; candidates with strong pediatric clinical preparation are encouraged to apply.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master’s degree.
Experience: Department and unit specific.
Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, and Physician Associate) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The pay range for this role is $116,123.00 - $171,163.20 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
