We’re looking for an energetic, creative, and people-focused Activity Assistant to support our Independent Living residents. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with residents who are independent, active, social, and full of life . Are you energetic and enthusiastic? If so, please, apply!
This role is about more than filling a calendar – it’s about building connections, discovering interests, encouraging participation, and helping residents make the most of every day . From social gatherings and outings to fitness, games, hobbies, special events, and new experiences, you’ll help create opportunities for residents to stay engaged, connected, and involved in the community.
In addition to someone with experience in activities, other skills or experience in:
• Exercise, fitness, group classes, dance, yoga, walking clubs, or recreational activities
• Singing, music, performing arts, or leading musical activities
• Art, crafts, decorating, photography, or other creative interests
• Country clubs, resorts, hotels, hospitality, recreation centers, or event environments
• Planning and coordinating social events, parties, outings, classes, or special programs
• Strong customer service and hospitality skills
• Public speaking or comfort leading groups
• An outgoing, friendly, and naturally engaging personality
• High energy and a positive, upbeat attitude
• Creativity and the ability to come up with new and interesting activities
• Someone who is comfortable encouraging residents to participate and making people feel welcome
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with residents
• Someone who is adaptable, thinks on their feet, and can handle the unexpected
• Comfort with technology, music equipment, presentations, and basic computer skills
• Someone who enjoys working with a variety of personalities and interests Under the supervision of the Activities Coordinator for the assigned area of the Village, assists in providing innovative services that meet the needs of residents through recreational, educational, spiritual and life skills program in a productive manner.

• Maintains and supports the mission and philosophy of St. Catherine's Village, Inc.
• Assists with conducting resident activities and transportation.
• Assists and works cooperatively with volunteers assigned to the same work area.
• Follows Village and departmental policies and procedures.
• Effectively works as a member of the Marketing and Administration team through open communication with staff, volunteers and families.
• Exhibits an understanding of the aging adult and stays informed of innovative program concepts, incorporating these into the existing program and helping create new programs.
• Respects resident and family privacy by maintaining confidential restricted information gained in any way.
• Maintains high standards of professional appearance and conduct.
• Other duties as assigned.

Experience - Experience working with the elderly in a long-term environment preferred; demonstrated creativity, with interest and skills in areas of music, arts and crafts and exercise is beneficial.
Education- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent; have special talents/skills/training to work with the elderly in an activity setting.
Special Skills - Interest in and understanding of working with the elderly; good judgment in conducting resident activity; good social interaction skills; cheerful and outgoing; ability to work with interruptions and sometimes stressful situations; ability to follow instructions and carry out projects independently when directed.
